Marla Hylton is an accomplished Clinical Therapist and the Owner of a private therapy practice, Calico Counseling LLC. Marla is also a Domestic Relations Mediator, registered in Indiana with the Supreme Court and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Marla served as a Board Member for the Indiana Association of Mediators (IAM). Marla is a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (AFCC).
Marla has a wealth of experience working with families. She has worked with voluntary and involuntary clients in a variety of settings (residential, crisis, private therapy practice, home-based) in both the public and private sector for over 25 years.
Marla currently provides therapy to individuals & couples at Calico Counseling. She was trained in Marital Therapy by Drs John & Julie Gottman, with a focus on evidence based practice. She also provides mediation services to divorcing couples, with the aim of keeping families out of the court system while helping them peacefully resolve their conflicts. Marla has been the co-trainer for a 40-Hour Domestic Relations Mediation Training since 2016. She has also taught countless other mediation trainings related to domestic violence, marketing, conflict resolution and making a mediation practice successful. She has also taught psychological issues in mediation for the Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum (ICLEF) since 2017. Marla has also been an advocate for mediation as she has presented mediation at several places including the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) annual conference, the Department of Child Services (DCS) Leadership Conference, the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Indiana Chapter and at the Kids Voice Conference.
Marla earned a Bachelor of Science degree (BS) from Ball State University Muncie, Indiana and a Masters in Social Work degree (MSW) from Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) Indianapolis, Indiana.
